Ford vehicles have often been known for their quality and technology, and they feature many of the standard capabilities that can be found in cars around the world. One such technology is the keyless entry remote. These remotes, also commonly known as key FOBs, can be synced or programmed to the Ford transmitter system from the inside of the vehicle.
Ford Key FOBs
Most Ford vehicles are equipped with the keyless remote by the dealership, and are programmed to the system by professionals. However, the remote may be lost, the battery may need to be replaced, or it just may stop working for a variety of reasons. If this happens, the remote can be reprogrammed or set without ever taking it to a dealership or professional. There is also no need for any automotive equipment – just a key and the remote itself.
How to Program Ford Entry Remotes
The programming sequence can be completed with one remote, or as many as four different remotes. The process should be started by entering the Ford vehicle with all of the FOB remotes and the normal ignition key used to start the vehicle. The doors and the windows should all be shut tightly before you begin the keyless entry programming, and the trunk should be closed securely.
Ford Car Remote Programming Instructions
In the car, the ignition key should be inserted into the cylinder as normal. Once inserted, the key will be in the “Off” position. It can then be turned two clicks to the right to the “Run” position. This will be one click short of starting the car, and will activate all of the electronics in the car, including the Ford keyless remote programming module.
After the key is in the “Run” position, the remote programming is started by pressing and releasing the lock or unlock button on the remote eight times. The button should be pushed and released eight times in ten seconds, and the transmitter will respond to this by automatically cycling the car’s locks.
Once the locks click open and then closed, the programming is continued by turning pressing the lock or unlock button again. This time the button should be pushed within 30 seconds of the lock clicks, and the button should be held for as long as 30 seconds. The programming will be completed once the locks click again, and the button can be released.
This will complete the process and the key can be removed from the ignition. The remotes will now be ready for use, and should last until the batteries run out of power.
