Go carts are popular recreational vehicles, and many drivers covet faster go carts. Speed can be increased on a cart with some simple tweaks.

Go carts are recreational opportunities perhaps unlike any other. They allow people of all ages to simulate the real life experience of running a NASCAR or a stock car track. They give children the opportunity to drive real cars, and they give adults the chance to bring out the inner child in themselves while cruising around a short course. Faster go carts, though, are a goal for many users who do not feel their personal carts are fast enough. Speeding up carts can be done in a number of ways, and the faster go carts will be moving like never before.

Increasing Go Cart Speed

Speedy go carts can be manipulated through a number of methods, and the proper go cart instructions must be followed to maximize driving speed. If the go cart is a personal one, the speed can be increased by removing all of the things that will slow the cart down. This process can be started by power cleaning the cart. This will allow the cart to move at its most efficient by removing any dirt and grime the might be slowing it done. The most important part to clean are the wheels and the wheel wells.

Once the cart is cleaned, it should be lightened by removing any unnecessary racks or additions that might only serve to slow it down. These can be removed from the sides and the back of the cart. Additions might include racks, fliers, seats or anything heavy that would slow the cart down.

Not that the cart is working at its lightest, it can be further quickened by access the go cart governor. The governor is an object within the cart’s engine that restricts the cart from moving at its fastest. This speed restrictor is located just off of the cart governor, and is in the form of a small T-shaped metal rod. The speed restrictions can be defeated by fastening the governor as close to the cylinders of the carburetor using duct tape or a rubber band.

Speeding Up Go Carts

The more difficult steps of increasing your golf cart speed can be handled if the previous attempts have still not satisfied an appetite for speed. Larger tires can be added to the cart to allow it to move more quickly with the same size engine. If this is still not enough, a final step can be taken by adding a larger horsepower engine. This larger engine should be added by someone with mechanical or engine experience.

All of these changes can get a go cart soaring beyond its initial 10-15 miles per hour speed made by the manufacturer, and will allow it to move as quickly as 20-25 miles per hour.
